This is a project just over 20 years in the making. I started writing the songs for this Book of Mormon musical fireside when I was 17, and have dreamed of the day I would have it finished and ready to share since that time. I've had many different ideas about how these songs were to be shared. At first I wanted it to be preformed as a big musical production - I even imagined it as one of the church's pageants in Salt Lake, with a similar feel to the Ha Breath of Life show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. But over the years, especially as I've seen pageants and stake musical productions fade away into a beloved pastime as the world changed and families got too busy to be involved in things like that, I've imagined this project as an online "production" - something that could be watched in the comfort of your own home, across the world. Of course, I don't have the skills to make a movie, or even professional short videos, with actors, singing these songs, so I picture slideshows with custom-made art, or just the lyrics on a black screen, but even though I don't know I am continuing to step forward in the dark because I have felt pushed by the spirit to finish and perfect these songs, and to be patient - that the details of how and when would come together. These songs aren't the most amazing songs ever. But they are so special to me, because the Holy Ghost brought the lyrics and melodies into my mind, as I studied the accounts of different people who came unto Christ and testified of him in this record. I felt their voices "crying from the dust", and I hope to bring their experiences more to life, through music.
