A primary song i wrote about the temple when I was serving as the music director over a very large primary. Hearing them practice this each week and then sing it in the primary program was a special experience. Vocal by my 9 year old son Jacob.
Mother, My Eternal Friend
I wrote this song when I was serving as the primary (children's) music director at church. I LOVE the songs in the children's songbook, but I got tired of the same Mother's Day songs year after year, since there are only a couple, and I wanted something new and special for the kids to sing. Having a large primary, it sounded absolutely amazing, and there weren't many dry eyes at church that day, including my own! A couple years later I had my sweet 10 year old Jacob record the vocal. I can't wait til I know how to record children's choirs!
If Christ Could
What an awesome experience! I loved working on Pyper's song this last week. She came to me with lyrics she had written and asked me for help with the music. It was so fun to help her vision and message come to life! I enjoyed creating the orchestration and the video (with the help of my awesome sister, Katelyn!) and was impressed with Pyper's ability to sing along with her recording, and ignore the camera in her face (not easy to do!) especially because this was her first experience with making a music video! But I was even more impressed with how direct the message of her song is. She gets right to the point. To paraphrase, and sum it up: "If Christ could do these great miracles, and selflessly give his life to save you and me, don't you think you could go to church, remember him, and follow him, as he asks?"
